Faith Over Fear in This Upper Room

Faith Over Fear in This Upper Room

There are seasons in life when I find myself in an “upper room” a place of waiting, uncertainty, and prayer. It may not be a physical room, but a season where I am trusting God for direction, healing, provision, or answers. In those moments, fear often tries to take center stage.

The disciples experienced this after Jesus’ resurrection. They gathered in an upper room, unsure of what the future held (Acts 1:13-14). Yet instead of allowing fear to control them, they waited on God in faith. Their obedience positioned them for the outpouring of the Holy Spirit on the Day of Pentecost.

I am reminded that faith is not the absence of fear; it is choosing to trust God despite fear. When Peter stepped out of the boat to walk on water (Matthew 14:29-31), he experienced the impossible because he fixed his eyes on Jesus. It was only when he focused on the storm that fear overwhelmed him.

God continually calls me to choose faith over fear. Isaiah 41:10 reminds me: “Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God.”

Whatever “upper room” season you find yourself in today, remember that God is working even while you wait. Faith opens the door for God’s promises to unfold.
